Liberate Your Art

After three years of good intentions, I finally participated in the Liberate Your Art postcard swap. I have to admit that I barely got my cards in on time, and I'm running behind on getting everything together for the blog hop. Yet I am determined to make my first year a success. Now that the swapping has come to an end, it is time for the blog hop over at Kat Eye Studios.

I would like to introduce the art that I received in the swap.

My first postcard came from Karen. I love the whimsical drawing and the inspirational quote on the front. It is a quote to live by. And on the back: Smile, it's the key that fits the lock on everyone's heart. That quote is so true. Thank you Karen!

The second postcard was from Barb in Canada. She took a picture of a small vignette on her mantle. The editing is lovely with a beautiful vintage look to it. Thank you Barb!

The third postcard to arrive was titled "Independence" created by Bill Laing. On the back he added the quote, "The greatest gifts you can give your children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence." ~ Denis Waitley
As a teacher and mother, I can attest to that.
The photo appropriately matched the quote and was done with what I believe was a hint of HDR to bring out the beautiful color in the photo. Thank you Bill!

The forth postcard came from Donna. She captured a lighthearted photo and added on the back that, "We all have those days...May today be a good one!" Yeah, I agree, we all have days like that. Thank you Donna for the fun postcard.

The fifth postcard came from Chris. He wrote an inspirational and heartfelt message on the back. He explained how he was in a situation where he was without supplies to make art, so he made do with what was available: folded scrap paper for straight lines, toothpaste and water bottle caps for circles, and even an oval deodorant cap turned carefully to make larger circles. He added, "Making this art has reminded me of the joys of the simple things in life and that I can make do with whatever life throws at me." That is a lesson we all need to know and learn. Thank you Chris for your inspirational message!

And lastly, the card we all waited for came from Kat, our lovely postcard swap host. I love trees and leaves and really, just nature in general, so I was really pleased when it arrived in my mailbox. A special thank you to Kat for all the hard work and effort put into creating a way for us all to liberate our art!

In my haste to get my cards out, I forgot to post an email address to my blog. Here is a quick slideshow of the cards I Liberated. They were all taken in the California coastal region. I hope the recipients enjoyed them.

Now I'm already planning for next year. I am hoping to create art other than photography for my next postcard swap. Hopefully I will be more prepared now that I have one year under my belt. Thank you Kat for this wonderful experience!
